Vogelogen

While working on Bringing Seaweed to the Grassland, I moved from the coast to a working farm. The sudden change in landscape left me disoriented. I took in my new surroundings through the camera and developed them using an extract of Fucus spiralis* from the North Sea.
Shortly afterwards, during a wet season, I created another series of photographs taken with snails crawling on the lens. I later dried these images in my own menstrual blood. Together, these works became a single project, which I published under the title Vogelogen.
*Fucus spiralis is a species of seaweed, a brown alga (Heterokontophyta, Phaeophyceae), living on the littoral shore of the Atlantic coasts of Europe and North America. It has the common names of spiral wrack and flat wrack.
